My enduro is getting handled... ive got a 05' big hit fsr on deck with the option of either a Swinger 6 way or a Progressive 5th...

anyone ridden with either shock on thier big hit, if so, let me know what you thought about it...

I had an 04 BigHit with a 4-way swinger, and it felt awesome. Bottomless travel, super squishy if needed. Never been on a progressive shock though.
Sellout!

I must have missed something...what happened to your Enduro? Specialized is going to replace it with a BH? Why wouldn't they give you an 06, you should be able to argue for that...unless you just want an 05.

As far as the shock, I had a BH with a Swinger 4 way, and a Swinger 6 way. While the 6 way may sound like a better idea because it's more "blingy", all I had was problems with it, and blew it twice. The 4 way was flawless, and felt really good. I have a Progressive coil on my Enduro now (warranty replacement from the air 5th), and so far, so good.
Specialized is not replacing my enduro. The enduro is just getting clapped out from all the abuse, so im just buying a bigger bike that wont get handled. I found a deal on a new big hit.

I could care less about the "blingy," I just want to get whats is going to work the best and not be finnicky or break on me. I questioned the 6 and the 5th because i found a couple deals on each, and was curious how these shocks treated other people.
Hey DHF.

Eric, I notice that Jake Wake gave a response over on Spec forum that sounds pretty good for the Enduro 8.75 X 2.75 swap. When are you gonna get off your big, lazy, MTBR moderator duff and do this thing? :p

this isnt the first time that I have heard bad things about the 6 way, they were similar complaints as well, i guess thats what you get for goin for the bling....

BTW... does anyone know where i can pick up some gold rimz?
I just talked to Progressive yesterday and they're swapping my new malfunctioning air shock for one of the remote resi coils like DHF'r has. Hopefully it'll be a lot better and I won't' be pogo-sticking down the trail.

I see...as far as the shock, I was just soured on my 6 way issues - and I had a couple friends that found them unreliable too.

I did see a 5th Element coil 8.75" x 2.5" on eBay last night for $225, might be the way to go in your case, unless you're buying new. Keep us posted, good luck.

Chad.....here are some questions thAT need answering.

How much you getting the frame for??

Does it have the big hit link (very important??

do you get the 24 inch rim??

Why don't you get the shock with the frame?

the vanilla RC was a good shock on that bike....if you have a blown one...just send it to www.pushindustries.com it would be like a fox DHX

yo chad...can you answer some of these questions
a swinger 6 way can be set up identical to the 4 way just screw in the high and low speed adjusters all the way and they dont add dampening

id go with the 6 becasue alhough u have the adjustments you don't HAVE to use them
answers for BOB...

What are you doing w/ your Enduro now? and more specifically, your Pike? If you're gonna get rid of it, I want it for my hardtail, some new seals and an oil change and that baby'd be good as new.
im keepin it...
