Didn't you post some pics about that a while back?

Think it's doable on a SS?

SN
Some pics here:

Depends how strong an SSer you are, whether you consider it doable or not. Majority of the riding is down, but one nice climbs(that I remember) that you may find yourself pushing on(I'll be pushing my Heckler for sure in spots). We won't be setting any crushing pace, so you should be fine.

more regarding SS on Commando.

There are three sections that are really steep. Most gearies even walk about 100 feet of each section. So in that sense, it's doeable. I wouldn't worry.

Like brian said, it's mostly downhill and a lot of the up is on a dirt road.

It's definitely fun to have suspension travel on Commando...lots of roots and rocks in sections.

For those camping, I highly recommend making your spot resevations ASAP (see main post). Ideally we can get all/most spots on the D loop so we disturb as few people as possible. ;)
Actually, a compadre of yours has offered me his condo while he is riding in Europe. Is it close to the rides? Should I still bring camping gear?

We plan on coming out there early week. Might make it one long day trip, leaving in the middle of the night, stopping in Durango for a short ride/lunch, then on through. Might make it a two day trip, too.

Anyone from AZ interested in a 'caravan'? We might have vehicle/passenger space, too.

Hmm...I assume you're talking about Dave's condo or his house?...it's not 100% sure we'll have the condo then. His house is no where near the rides (2 hours away), but good for a night in Denver. I'd talk to him about it. My suggestion it to play it safe and bring camping gear and reserve a camping spot. Plus you can hang with the cool kids at the campground.

He said we would have it all to our selves, he'll be leaving on Wednesday of that week. I plan on getting to his place Monday. He wants to show me some places before he takes of Wednesday night.

I'll check with him. I'll be ready for whatever happens.

So, same question, condo close to the rides, (if still available)? 'Uncool' to not camp? (I'll bring gear, just in case, important to fit in, always wanted to hang with the 'cool kids…lol)

Dave's not in the loop with this gathering at all. He probably thought it was happening on the front range which it isn't. Hang with him, ride with him, but trust him for nothing. He was probably talking about his house which is in Denver, but I really don't know. Condo is very close to the rides, but we are just renting a single room there, and we'll likely be kicked out by March, but we MIGHT be able to stay through august. Kicked out by Sept. for almost sure.

okey-dokey, I'll plan on camping. I'll bring a couple Ez-Ups for the big camping area, (besides my tent/vehicle tent), if it is just ME and myself in the car. Maybe others can bring theirs and we can create a big party area.

It just so happens that I put together a li'l slideshow of some front range trails. Mostly Golden stuff, but hopefully temptation fodder all the same.

....you have time for anything else except riding & taking great photos?? Huh? Can you shine a little light on just how you came upon this occupation of yours? Hmm?

JMac (rides but living more vicariously thru sites such as yours....) :D
