It never seems to amaze me how many ways i have seen the word deraileur spelled on craigslist and mtbr. I sure hope I spelled it right? Oops.. :madman: Spelled it wrong in the title

My new favorite is derailiur.
Anyone else?

Dictionary.com says it is spelled with two L's.

But yeah, bad spelling and grammar is annoying. While we're at it:

- It's a damper. A dampener is something that sprays water.
- One bike has one fork.
- "Your" does not equal "you're"
- Their, there and they're are three different words
- To, too and two are also three different words

I'll throw in: effect and affect. An effect is a result. While something is affected by an action. So your end effect can be affected by your action.

And when people say "a couple, two three". That's 7.

I love it when someone posts a bike for sale and doesn't tell you what size. Or, when they simply say "Bicycle, works good. $150"

Guilty as charged, your honor.

My list is mostly geologic in nature, on this forum I've seen:
-sandstone called granite
-schist called granite
-limestone called shale
-and my favorite % grade vs. degree slope

I hope my little pet peeves don't effect you.:)

Duh, they are front forks.
Can you show me a rear fork, or maybe a side fork? Do you have more than one fork on the front? Methinks if you have a front one and a rear one, then maybe you can use the "s" but otherwise... but hey, I is only edumacated to crunch numbers and not rite ;)

Edit: Oh sorry, was that meant as irony? I'm such a retard!

Here you go, a bike with front and rear forks.

I think that bike is this thread's "derailer". Got an example from THIS decade and a half?

For the record anybody that uses the phrase "thank you in advance" kinda pisses me off.

Sorry to have to point this out mtg7aa, but there should not be an apostrophe in red below:
"Dictionary.com says it is spelled with two L's."

And to keep on topic, I know it's wrong but always just go with "derailer"

Yep, just wanting to derail the thread and be a wise ass. Bugs me to no end when people use the terms "front forks" and "rear shock". So I'm agreeing. However, when you asked for a rear fork, the old Manitou came to mind, and I couldn't resist.:D

Yeah, I know, but I put that in so it didn't look like "ls", which I figured would have been confused with the word "is", or something. But yeah, it's not correct.

Btw, didn't Sheldon Brown purposefully use the term "derailer" as satire?
