Rain is forecasted and it looks like it's holding water so far (nyuk-nyuk).

7 days of interesting weather and Sunday really showed a shift in pressure systems and actual water fell from the skies Sunday night. Here's some data to share. I'm soooooo stoked.

6-day accumulated forecast.

So these storms are for the North but Santa Cruz mountains should get at least an inch. A lot hangs in the balance so we'll see. But to get this possibility even before Halloween is a true gift. I've been through years where not a single drop fell before Xmas.

Around 6" of snow fell last night at 6,700ft elevation. Looks like more snow next weekend, too. This was the 4th day of rain or snow in October here in Truckee. Fingers crossed that we keep getting snow, even if that does eat into my bike time.

During the summer I picked up two vests for shoulder season. I was kind of looking forward to testing them out, but we sorta went from short sleeves to snow.

Can you share a link to how you get the map with the totals? I can't seem to find it on NOAA website. Thanks

Hoping to demo a blur on saturday in anticipation of a planned purchase. I know sunday is the big rain day but would you guys expect that wilder and "surrounding areas" be in suitable shape still on Saturday for a useful test run? Perfect day to be out on someone else's bike...

It should be fine on Saturday. Bear in mind it hasn't rained in about 10 months. It's bonnnnnne dry out there.

Forecast is still improving and you can feel it in the air outside!!! 8 inches of rain in Santa Cruz and 13+ inches east of Chico on the 6 day forecast

I'd say the forecast is getting worse. All that water is going to end up in the ocean instead of permeating the ground and filling the reservoirs. We need multiple small storms...

After 8 months of nothing, the parched earth needs this so badly. We need some level of saturation before any run-off occurs or can collect.

The burn areas will heal as the new growth needs it so badly. Anyway, there's a week of wet weather in October and that can't be bad.

The severity of the storm doesn't dictate whether the rain goes into a reservoir or the ocean. Rain in some areas will always run off into a reservoir, and rain in other areas will always flow out to the ocean. Depends where the reservoir is placed. But they're all basically empty so let's fill them up while we can.
The other issue is all the creeks are drying and I imagine critters are dying. This will get things running again. Or at least saturate the soil once again.

As far as riding is concerned..... holy **** this is a great gift.
