I 'm really intrested in getting a cheap affordable second bike It doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles. It's main purpose will probably a commuter/beater bike. I ran into the nycbikes.com site a few weeks ago and I'm intrested in one of the models I think it's called cityfixed with the aerobars on it. Any input or other suggestions will be greatly appriciated.

I thought that I read somewhere that IRO makes the frames of NYC bikes, or is a supplier of some sort.

I've been thinking about an NYC SS for a while now, but I ended up pulling the trigger on a Bianchi GUSS instead.

I would cruz over to the IRO site and checkout their stuff too.

Those are pursuit bars, not aero bars. Some TT bikes and tri-geek bikes use them in conjunction with aero bars.
A similar effect can be found by flipping drop bars over and cutting off the drops about an inch into the hook. You tend to see those on a lot of messenger bikes.
If I were purchasing a complete bike, I'd consider getting those on it, instead of my cut drops.

It seems really expensive at $750, or am I looking at the right price, but even so I wouldn't get an aluminum track/fixie for the road. I prefer the feel of steel. Check out Harris Cyclery (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/fixed.html) for the Fuji Track or some other low end track bike. If I were gonna buy a new fixed gear, I'd personally get the IRO Mark V Pro for $600. http://irocycle.com/fixedgearandsinglespeedbikeframesfromirocycleinc/id68.html I've read nothing but great reviews about IRO from the fixed gear forums that I frequent.
