NRS '04 frames differences?

811 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Fast Freddy
Hi,

My impression is that pre-2004, all NRS models for any given year have the same frame (except for the graphite versions), just different components. Are all of the NRS frames the same for 2004 models, or are there any differences? I remember reading that the NRS 3 frame was slightly different from the other models but do not remember any of the details.

Thx.

The NRS3 is the same frame except: it has rear Vbrake bosses, and the shock doesn't have rebound adjustment.

If you go to Giant for a frame only, the frame will come with Vbrake bosses usually. They have too have those also in that production run, since the replacement frames have to be able to warrenty swap with any model NRS that year.

There are 2004 and 2004.5 frames.

The NRS-3, for both, has brake bosses, and the Fox shock without AVA. All others have the Fox shock with AVA.

The '04 NRS-2 is red and has brake bosses. The '04.5 is gray and has disc brakes (no canti bosses).

I do not know the details on the NRS-1.

I believe the '04 NRS-Air has aluminum rear triangle tubes, but the '04.5 is fully carbon.

All this info is based on what the bikes that 3 LBS's had in stock from the 2004 and 2004.5 model years.
