Any of you have trouble asking for what you really want for Christmas. My parents always want to get me exactly what I want, but it just feels weird walking them through every step of it....like go to this website and buy this in this size, then go to the LBS and ask about the prices for these, then buy which is cheapest. It feel bad asking for stuff that they don't understand in the least, stuff that if they screw up on (which is very likely to happen), nothing will fit right etc. Last christmas was like that and it was terrible, so much stress. Anyone know what i'm talkin about?

Sounds like a huge problem.

Give some kids in afghanistan a call and see how they deal with it.

Good boy.

Now that that's covered, I suggest leaving detailed lists of products accompanied by retailers having said items in stock. Include a human finger (just cut it off some bum in the street while he's passed out......gotta weak little sister?) with some sort of indication that if your parents fail to provide you with exactly what you've asked for, they will get much worse. Can't kill them in their sleep though..........at least not until they've had time to fix their mistakes.

OMG....Like...my parents always get me ferraris for christmas and they always get it in the wrong color, or the wrong tires on it, or even....GASP! the wrong stereo.

Boohoo. Suck it up ya little girl.
the way i do it is i find the things i want on the internet, then i send my mom an email including links, colors and sizes titled HINT HINT. that usually works pretty well
Now that everyone has gotten their rants out at Lickquid...maybe we can actually post some productive material.

If thats your problem about them not getting exactly what you like...ask for money and buy it yourself! Money is like the Gift Certificate to the world...
i agree i would much rather get money and get whatever i want myself
The problems not getting something I don't want, its about being feeling like I'm ruining christmas by making it too detailed and material. And I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I get whatever I want, thats not it at all. And its not about how to get what I want. Grrrrrrrr, its being taken the wrong way, its about feeling bad for asking for such complicated stuff.

i know exactly how you feel. and when somebody tries so hard to get the thing you want, and it's not quite right, and having to tell them that. you feel so guilty about having to return it.

when it happens, just thank whoever got it for you and be very appreciative that they tried their best. it's hard when the person doesn't know much about what they're buying for you.
Lickqid, I do the same thing except that ive been doing it for about 3 years now. lol
Just ask for money instead! You would enjoy doing the shopping much more than they would.
email your parents links to the exact thing you want on a mtb store website and tell them what size and all that stuff, its what i did.
Listen man, I do the same thing to my wife. I figure what I want, research it on line, find the find a place that sells it online and send her the link with any sizing/color info. I feel a little ani-xmas myself sometimes but she has it easy compared to me. All she has to do is click the link. Me on the other hand, I have to remember all the crap she said she wanted over the past year and run around the mall most of the time to find what she wants.

That's how I pretty much made my Christmas list this year, I searched around online for the bike things I wanted, made a Word document listing the name and model of each product (size if applicable) and included the URL so they can just go to it. Of course I included lots of things so it's not quite like I"m picking out exactly what they'll get me. :p And a lot of it was cheap this year, like gloves, books, etc... :)
do what i did and just the credit card from the g/f and order what you want.. got all kinds of little **** that i need like chain lube, tubes. got a set of pro tapers shorts and tld knee pads too.
What I'm doing this year is a get a set amount of money, and if I want something off of the internet, I choose it, then just have my dad put in the credit card number then order. Then, my parents just put it in their closet till christmas. Not too complicated.
