Just wanted to say that Northstar is doing a bang up job this year. We went up yesterday for our thrid trip this year. Each time we've gone, the place just keeps getting better and better.
As you may have heard they reworked the middle section of Stix-n-Stones. AWESOME!!!! The pictures of the wood boardwalks do not do it justice. That middle section just flows so good now. You carry a ton of speed and hit some really fun hits that just send you flying for some serious distance. Then you peal across the fireroad higher than before and drop straight into the rock garden sections before the final drop on the lower fireroad and into the last section of Six-n-Stones.

We did not get a chance to ride Livewire as we rode the Vista side for the better part of the day. Took a quick lunch stop, rode Stix again then headed to Zypher to ride Gypsy and Boondocks before hitting Livewire which by then was closed for watering.

Speaking of Gypsy....everyone in our group felt that the upper part of Gyspy was flowing a lot faster and that the trail had been groomed. They filled in the little tree/logs double into the downhill rocky section with more trees, which was kind of a bummer. Guess not enough people were able to clear that?? With the upper section running smooth and fast and all the reworks to the middle/lower section a month ago, boy it's hard to beat a fast rippen run down Gypsy!:D

Anyway, just wanted to give the N* trailcrew an ehandshake in gratitude. So if any of you trail guys are on here, THANKS! Your work is muuuuuch appreciated!

Now, just hoping the race doesn't kill all the new stuff on Stix this Sunday....:madman:

I was actually up at northstar for the first time this friday, and I have got to say it is definitely a fun place to ride. +1 on the N* crew being on top of things and being helpful to boot. I am pretty sure I was grinning ear to ear in the middle of livewire at one point. Fun trail and for me it easily lived up to the hype.

man
just wish they would do maintenance on the berms
They actually have done at least a little berm maintenance this year. They've reworked (and significantly improved) certain corners/berms on Gypsy and Sticks & Stones. (Sticks & Stones is now the best run on the mountain, IMO.) And about 2-3 weeks ago, they fixed a number of the berms on Livewire. Also, keep in mind the crappy kitty litter soil they have to work with.

My constructive criticism: I hate the puddles before certain jumps on Livewire. Also, some of those jumps are way too easy to overshoot. But I still love that run.

Anyhow, Northstar isn't Whistler, but they've definitely stepped it up this season and merit some acknowledgement.

To give them some credit as I got there a rider came down livewire and came over to a N* employee I was talking to and told him that there were some large puddles, sprinklers not working right, and a couple other issues on livewire, and a little later when I was on it there was that employee and one or two others with shovels and fixing things up. I have never been there before, so nothing to relate it to, but they seem to be pretty on top of things. I just wish I got to ride more of the mountain.
