I just got back from BC. I did the usual Whistler Bike Park and the trails in the valley but I decided to make an extra stop in North Van. It was well worth it!

I started by booking a tour with Endless Biking so I wasn't riding Mt Fromme blindly. I went riding with Darren from Endless for one day. After that I felt I could ride around Fromme and not find myself in trouble. I rode a RM slopestyle slayer with Fox 36 Talus coil single crown in the front and a DHX 5.0 in the back(I'm 6'3" 250lbs). The bike had 7" of travel, granny gear and wide bars.

The night before I went back home I stayed at Lynn Valley B&B. I know a B&B sounds lame but the place is a two minute ride to the gate on top of Mountain Highway and they give a big discount to Mountain bikers(less than $100/night). The owners and the food are awesome. There's the 210 bus if you want to go downtown. The owner Andrew will pick you up or drop you off from the airport, pack a lunch and even cooked us dinner all for cheap.

You could ride the north shore for a few days cheaper than you think. Long as you can pedal uphill which is not bad in granny but it will take anywhere from 5 minutes to get to natural high to an hour to get to upper oilcan from the B&B. The trails are like nothing I've ever seen. The work and the thought that's gone into them is awesome.

If you're going to Whistler this year stop off at Fromme. My bet is it will be the sickest XC ride you been on in a long time. XC?.. I saw a guy that was riding with no pads on a 100 mm Kona.

As a NV local, I'm glad to hear you had an excellent experience. Thanks for doing it 'right', and hooking yourself up with some local knowledge first (the relationship with many of the nearby residents on Fromme isn't great). DB from EB is as solid as they come.
