I need help picking a couple spots for camping in early July. Looking for nice spots that offer decent riding as well. I'm trying to find a place between Santa Cruz and Bodega Bay one night and between Bodega and Arcata another. Anyone have thoughts on the following spots...

Samuel P. Taylor St. Park?---Are the trails open to bikes here? I thought I remember seeing pictures of singletrack here years ago. Is it still there?

Salt Point/Van Damme/Russian Gulch/MacKerricher St. Parks?--- I know there are some trails at a couple of these.

Jackson State Forest?--- How is the camping?

Anything I'm missing?

I know this part of the state doesn't get talked about much on here, but there has to be some gems for riding. Help a brother out.

Farther north check out Albee Creek or Burlington campground at Humboldt Redwoods State Park near Myers Flat. Great camping and swimming, and the legal mt biking is pretty good. There are some very big rides; tame stuff but huge climbs and nice scenery. A bit of sneaking around results in some epic riding, but...?

Thanks for the tip. I had thought about Humboldt Redwoods St. Park but forgot to put it down. What I'm looking for is just quick little rides I can get in while my girlfriend hangs out at the campsite and reads.

Samuel P Taylor is a really nice campground but fills up fast. there is access to bolinas ridge one of the more famous trails although it's a fire road. and the options are endless from there. ride into fairfax, tamarancho. all depending on how far you want to ride. you can also go over the hill to point reyes and take a nice gingerly ride to the beach. the rides to the beach at pt reyes are beach cruiser and flip flop easy, but they are dirt.

Salt Point has nice rides as well, but I haven't been there in 3-4 years. there is a cool pygmy forest that you can ride through.
