I currently have 08 XTR SL-M970 rapid fire shifters attached to a XTR-RD M970 SGS rear der.

My question is to down shift I have to use my thumb and push forward and to upshift I have to use my index fingers and pull back, I want to have this reversed, is this possible I have read possibly that getting the new XTR shadow rear der. would make it the opposite which is what I want.

I had integrated shifting for two years and am used to pushing down to go harder not vise versa,

Either the XTR Shadow or the XTR 971 traditional (high normal) RD will work to reverse your shifting. You're better off with the XT Shadow if you're going that route, the XTR Shadow is a bit fragile with the carbon pulley cage.
