I've got a 2018 Tallboy 3 and I'm ready to replace the BB. I do a moderate amount of maintenance on my bike, but I've never removed a crank or BB. I've spent about an hour reading up on the procedure, but feel like I'm moving backwards because of all the different standards/compatibility issues.

In short, can I pair a Shimano XTR SM-BB93 with my existing Raceface Aeffect crank?

In terms of special tools, I've already got a Park Tool 16-Notch Bottom Bracket Tool, 39mm and I just ordered a Park Tool Compact Crank Puller. Anything else I need? (Other than common bike tools ?)

Thanks in advance!

The Aeffect should be a 24mm crank, so yes, you can use the Shimano bottom bracket (though sometimes it is difficult to get non-Shimano stuff through, and vice-versa).

Measure the cups/any spacers installed between them and the frame, and replicate that using the Shimano bottom bracket. You may need to mess with the spindle spacers a bit, but it's not a huge deal.
