So I just bought a new hardtail, my first "real" mtb since I have been riding rigid for a long time. I have an 80mm Manitou Elite fork and I have taken it on one XC ride about 8 miles last week. I noticed last night when I was messing around with the bike that when I hold the front break and push down on the fork I can hear the air pushing itself out when compressed. Is this normal? I don't remember it happening before.

Sorry for the dumb question. Hopefully this fork will be upgraded to a SID or something else in the future but for now, it's all I got.

it's a decent fork, relatively light and cushy.

is the fork losing air pressure? or are you hearing something else, perhaps the oil squishing by the compression piston?
