Well I don't think it is that common, yours is the first i have read about.

Noisy Fox Float
Has anyone experienced a minor rattle or knocking sound coming from their Fox Float shock? My Triad shock (’04 Stumpjumper) makes an annoying sound on every stroke like a cable rattling against the frame. It's definitely internal and not coming from a bearing - I pulled the shock out of the frame, worked the shock to produce the same sound.
It’s covered under warranty, but I'm interested to know if it's a common problem.
