Does anyone else hear a creaking noise coming
from the knucklebox/crank arm area on their bikes?
Today and in the past I heard an annoying creaking noise
I don't know if I need to lube the pivot joints or what but I figured
I would ask. I have an 08 M2, the cranks are new truvativ
stylo OCT and new BB so I am leaning towards the noise
coming from the knucklebox.

I should add I only hear the noise while climbing.

make sure all pivot bolts r torqued, cleaned and lightly greased. check frame for cracks near welds. Noises can be tricky to locate, I have had the same bike and with my Sortie as well, every couple of months I clean my headset and lightly grease and reassemble the front end, ~10min job. Depends on ride conditions/time. Over time dirt and mud get in between bearing cartridges and the cups in the frame, creaks like crazy. I though it was my KB, but it was the Headset!. Just some normal annual maintaince usually takes care of creaks and prevent future ones from occuring more often.

on my buddies kona, he had some creaking, we thought was the suspension linkage, so we looked and fixed everything, turns out it was his seat coming apart....

Funny u mention that, I rode today and I think
It is my seatpost. I have a specialized command post
and i think it may need to be tightened.

Yeah that is another thing, the seat, I have had issues before and it was my rails and saddle, which are old, creaked and that was the creaking sound I thought was in my frame!
