I'm surprised to not see any Trek talk yet... Here's a picture of my old Trek frame. This is a 1st generation rear end with a 2002 front end. My seat tube cracked and Trek sent me a new front triangle... I put it back together and promptly sold it on the MTBR classifieds.

With the current popularity of the Fuel, I take it Trek has sorted out the seat tube welds???

Lovin' my Trek, here.... '01 Fuel 90, basically stock other than wear and tear upgrades, barends....no frame breakage.....yet ...<fingers and toes crossed>
And all stickers from frame/fork are gone - nice matte black "stealth" Fuel...

love my 90. i went from a fisher marlin, which i still have, and it's like night and day. a friend of mine and i have one and they've both held up great. it's a 2003 by the way

If you have the disc brake version:
Hopefully you also gave the "stealth" treatment to those horribly over-stickered Rolf wheels! That was the first thing I did to mine when I got it home... The Rolfs are still going strong on my alu HT xc bike. I've been REALLY surprised at their durability.

LOL...well, no, I don't have the disc wheels, but, yeah, I stripped the "horribly over-stickered" Rolfs of their stickers....mine are the lowly Satellites (sp??), but, as well, they're still going strong - absolutely NO problems (just slightly flexy if I turn very hard and fast on a grippy surface - rim bumps against the vee-brake pad and goes "ping"...took me a lil while to figure out just what the heck that sound was...now that I know, no biggie :)

Here are my Treks

I've got two of em, one for off road and one for on. I bought the fuel frame off the classifieds here and have build it up piece by piece whenever I've had the money. It's stocked pretty well with Fox, Easton, Race Face, Thomson, Sram, and some other good stuff. I've almost completely stripped the bike of shimano crap, it's quite nice. I just like shimano cassettes more than Srams. As for the roadie, it's a pretty much stock 2200. I bought it off ebay and put a new saddle and bar tape on it and added a saddle bag. Trek makes some great bikes. Never any trouble with either of mine.

I'll try to load up some pictures, but I've never done multiples, and this new format will probably confuse me, but here goes it.

Had an 8500

Loved that bike, I raced it for 3 seasons, and rode it everywhere. I twisted the rear triangle about 3 months ago in a race. I stripped the bike down but will never throw that frame out.

Since I got the Fuel, I haven't even ridden the hardtail off road. The Fuel just fits better and is more fun to ride.

all you need to do is edit your post pasting the properties of the image links one at a time using the insert pic icon. If only posting one pic the usual simple method works.

My Fuel 80

Here is my 03 Fuel 80. Not much is left stock on it other then the Frame, Seat post, and rear shock everything has been changed.

Deore XT Drive train including shifter and brake levers

The bike came with the 515 and those things were horrible. The 520's are the same design as the 959's just with heavier parts. I haven't had one problem with the 520's I can click in with ease and can unclick when I want to unlike the 515. At $40 they are a great deal and probably one of the better upgrades I have done.

Yeah, I've got the 515s on my Fuel. I haven't had any problems, but I've also got the tension as low as it will go. I've been thinking of going with the the 520s or 540s once I get totally fed up with the 515s. . . .

It was a world of diffrence for me when I switched, I no longer even think about the pedals they just work whenever I need them. The 540's seem to probably be the best deal as they are less then 10 grams heavier then the 959 and only about $65.

Brakes have about 75 miles on them now and I have no squeling sounds when i use them. I do get a little chirping sound every now and then out of the back when riding a certian way but not when I apply the brakes. I think the sound is coming from the rotor touching the pads when the rear end flexs a bit to the side. It doesn't always do it and really isn't loud so it's not a big deal to me. It's no wear near some of the bikes I hear on the trail when they hit thier brakes, the chirp is like a little bird sound.

Do you have any issues with squealing or vibrating with the discs? The '01 Fuels were notorious for problems with noise and vibration from the rear. I haven't had many problems with it -- as long as I take the bike into the shop periodically to get them adjusted.

I pretty much bought the frame off of the classifieds page here, and then built it up over time. I'm quite pleased with the result, it rides very nicely. Sorry if the first pic is a little blurry.
