Anyone seen pictures of the hwy 67 washouts between Woodland and Deckers? What I saw on the new looked pretty bad. They are saying "months" before the road is reopened. Makes it a bit more difficult for those of us down south to get up that way.

First the fire, then the flood. Be on watch for toads and earthquake.

I heard on NPR that all the flooding and slides caused the Hayman Burn area to be declared a Federal Disaster emergency. When it rains it pours....bad pun, but damn, those folks that live in that area have had a hard time the last several years.

It's pretty ugly. 4.5 miles of highway 67 is gone and it will be months before it's reopened. I can't imagine the damage to the rest of the Hayman burn area. This is similar to what happened two months after the Buffalo Creek fire in '96. The heavy rains and subsequent flooding caused just as much, if not more damage than the actual fire. Mother nature at work.
