Niterider Digital Pro 12e Battery Question?

1024 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  prerogative
I'm in the process of replacing the cells in my water bottle battery. There is a electrical componenet of some sort between cells #4 and #5. It's flat and says TZ5R on it. The same component is also on my old 6v battery. Does anyone know what this item is? Is it important? Should I worry about it?

Thanks!!!

Fuse...

It increases resistance as the current goes up to protect against overcurrent and resets itself when the conditions allow. You can reuse it or get other one from DigiKey...

You might find this useful. I posted full instructions for rebuilding batteries here...

Thanks for the info on fuse - couldn't find it.

I'm not sure if Porter was talking about the fuse, or the circuit board which also needs to be used to keep digital functions. The chip on my 6v digital evolution is: DS2438, 0106A5, 724AB.

Just placed order with Battery Station a few minutes ago . . . 5 pack for above, and a 6 pack for additional overvolted light setup.

Regards
The pic he posted was definitely the fuse.

Sorry Homebrew - didn't bother following the pic link. BTW, Thanks for your contributions thus far. Your name was plastered all over much of the stuff I bothered keeping. This is like a seasonal event, where I scramble in the Spring, and again in the Fall to get lights/batteries functioning. I've found it helpful to keep a bunch'o links for later when I need them.

Most importantly, I find it fun to play with the lights/batteries. My bike only needs so much work, and this is my relax time . . .

Admin: Why don't we have a dedicated Lights & Batteries forum? The info seems to be spread over a few forums thus far. I realize the volumes fluctuate throughout the year, but this is one of those periods.
