Hi all: it's down to the Stumpjumper HT or the Niner EMD. Stumpjumper has a lifetime warranty on the frame. EMD is 5 yrs. This would be my "winter" bike, slippin' and slidin' over roots and logs in the Pacific NW. I'd be running a 2X9 drive train (granny, middle, bash ring) totally XC build (probably Am Classic wheels, etc). No air, but a 200-lb rider hitting big log piles, rocks, etc. I tend to keep my bikes a long time, upgrading when I trash a fork, etc. My first mtn bike's seat tube broke just above the front dr. Whaddyathink?

thanks Hand

re your drivetrain recommendations, I, ah, should admit this bike will be paid for by my first three Social Security checks: so I need all the help I can get for climbing. Probably will even go for a 20-tooth granny. Maybe even run tubeless tires with Poligrip on the beads....;)
