BERKELEY, Calif.- Three new states for the National Interscholastic Cycling Association program starting in 2011 will be announced in a press conference at Interbike, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 22nd, at the NICA booth, #3304.

Matt Fritzinger, executive director of NICA, said, "These are very exciting days for us. The skill and knowledge of people in these new leagues is already very high, which reflects many years of hard work by mountain bikers before they even knew of NICA. And we are regularly receiving enquiries from states across the country asking how they can get involved. The key for us at present is to grow at a rate that we can manage."

A new NICA league goes through three stages of development: Emerging, Project, and Chapter. Explanations are below. Both Emerging and Project leagues will be announced at the Interbike press conference. Please direct any early inquiries to Matt Fritzinger at 510.524.5464.
