newbie question on tubeless tires with thorns

591 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Telcoman
Having recently picked up on mountainbiking again, let me start by saying MTBR helped a lot. Thanks everybody for posting here!

Today I rode a trail with thornbushes on both sides. Home, I ended up taking at least 5 thorns out of my tubeless tires. The rear tire ony deflated a little bit, also a little bit of fluid came out. The front tire deflated more.

Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Recently, the LBS injected the tires with some kind of fluid. Do I need to repair the tires? Thanks!

just pump them back up to where they should be, and maybe ride around a bit. the fluid should seal the holes up. that's what its there for.

would also be helpful to yourself to know what the lbs injected, so you can buy more of it and add some in the future....because it'll dry out and need to be replenished, or it'll stop sealing the holes. and i imagine it wouldn't be wise to mix/match sealants.

Ahh.. thanks! Unfortunately, didn't succeed in pumping them up. May be a pump issue, used an old rusty one that was lying around. I will follow up on your advice tomorrow and drive out to the LBS and ask him.

Quick question: how do you inject the fluid? (will buy that too, tomorrow)
