Just finished up my first "budget" 29er. It is a Diamondback Overdrive frame I picked up cheap (new) and got a bunch of parts for christmas and the rest I purchased myself. First build (wanted to get to know my bike). Been riding amateur for years. Not as fancy as all the other bikes I see on here but really love riding! :)

I would highly suggest a drivetrain, brakes and a SEAT before you take that out on the trials...
Can't wait to see it done. Where did you get the frame? Looking good so far. Whats the build gonna be (build list?)
I rode an Overdrive last summer. Nice frame and very reasonably priced. It's now waiting in the garage to be built :).
HAHA, just finished it up today, will post up some pictures later this evening.

Got the frame off Ebay 80$ shipped brand new (all they had left were XL's and I'm 6'2", previously rode a medium Target special 26er that was too small for me).

Here's my list of everything;

2008 Diamondback overdrive frame
Shimano Deore 29er disc wheelset w/WTB Dual Duty rims
2009 Rock Shox Dart3 front fork
FSA Dynadrive Crankset
Shimano UN54 Bottom Bracket
Wellgo MG1 pedals
WTB Pure V saddle
Ritchey Comp seatpost
Shimano Deore 9spd cassette
Shimano Deore M580 rear der
Shimano Deore M581 front der
Novara handlebar grips
FSA rim tape

Christmas gifts:
Thomson Elite Stem
Cane Creek IS3 headset
Avid BB5 disc front/rear brakes w/pads
WTB stout 29er tires
Inline 29er tubes
Shimano Deore shifters w/integrated brakes

And reused an Azonic doublewall handlebar I got for my other bike.

Looking sweet. Nice job. Looking forward to the pics.
And the addiction of building custom bikes begins...watch out, it tends to be very consuming! Can't wait to see pics of the finished build

Here's the finished pics, sorry for the bad pictures, it's the work camera and it SUCKS!

Don't mind the white zip ties holding the downtube fender, will be replaced with black zip ties tomorrow morning. :)

Looks good. Your gonna love it, especially coming of a target bike. I like the blue pedals. Sets is "off" a little. Now, get out there and get it dirty. Nice choice of bomb proof components. I think black zip ties will sand out even more. The white looks fine on that frame.
