So we can perhaps motivate others in something other than UGI/peer-pressure, here are some of mine:

* No bike purchases in 2006 (need to hurry then with only 1 week left!!)
* Do a 12 hour solo single speed (or 24 hr solo non SS) or 2 man 24 hour single speed
* Finally ride with Aquaholic so he can take embarassing pictures of me eating sh!t
* Go to Interbike

and some more worthy, more personal resolutions/goals

* Get a better job and/or promotion ( so maybe I can remove #1 resolution above :D )
* grow some hair (on top of my head, not my back)

I'll go

1- No new bike purchases either. 3 was enough in '05.
2- Finish a 100 mile enduro. (It would help if there was one that was completely flat)
3- Ride Aquahoics new bike (This could hurt resolution #1)
4- Drink less beer to help with resolution #2

Personal

-Finish my bathroom remodel (will help break #1 above)

Glad to see I am not the only pathetic soul requiring resolution #1 after an overdone 2005. You have my support!

I am a LONG way from being able to meet any of my resolutions in terms of planning but really hope to do them all.

I just added/converted an extra room this past year so hopefully I have zero home modification in 06.

Cheers

I wish I could do the same, alas mother nature will not allow me.

My resolution I have an outside chance at:

* Commute 3 days a week.
* Weight lift 2 Days a week.
* Ride tech trails again like I did before my shoulder seperation.

Resolution I don't have a chance at:

* Bling my bikes like Fo Shizzle.
* that whole hair on top of head thing...

2006 is a clean piece of paper....let the planning begin

My resolutions for 2006:

* Finish my kitchen remodel before my wife cuts off my bike budget :(
* Commute to work 25 miles round trip.
* Loss some weight....I'd like to be at 185 lbs before the race season starts
* Train hard  for Death ride, other centuries & mtn bike racing
* Commite to studying for my professional engineers license (that's a tuff one)

Resolution I don't have a chance at:

* Any new bike purchases.......I addicted to anything with wheels.
* Buying a new motorcycle (since my best friends crash that's new to impossible to get the wife's sign off on that one.....I can only dream)

OLE! in 06!

FoShizzle - those are some good ones. I remember my first 24 hour at Northstar. We did the four man team event and we were competing against Sherwood's group.....we were battling it out. The only thing we were concerned with was being above Sherwood :) we did it. My next 24 hour at Northstar we took third in the four man team :D

i hear yuh.....most recently I did a 24 hour race in October on a 4 man team. Rode the X5 at night and one of my single speeds in day laps. that algorithm worked quite well. we took second in our category.

i am crossing my fingers that my wife's school does not conflict with a 12 hour race I want to do in January....that one will be a single speed solo for sure if I can make it. If I cannot make that one, my back up is a 56 mile endurance race in March that is supposed to be a good one.

cheers

D-Rock's NYR

I bought 2 bikes in '05, I figure I'm good for at least two more in '06.

  • Maybe an El Chiquillo and a new roadie if the Paramount refinish/rebuild doesn't satisfy me.
Get the Wife/New Daughter an Audi Avant
Lose weight and ride more. (Duh!)
Eliminate the trigger shifter curse from the world. (J/K) ;)
Keep up with mudpie when he's on the 6-Pack
Convince RedRocker/SSINGA/mudpie to see the Ventana light.
Egg LoneStar to spend more money on his bike!
    Out Bling FoShizzle just once

Ambitious, I know. Yet I somehow feel compelled.

I should be easy. Just ordered new handlebars bars from Chad!

I haven't really given this a lot of thought. So, just off the top of my head

Lose some weight
Improve my fitness
Learn to do drops without breaking my arm
Stop ragging on my teenagers
Treat my wife like the queen she is
Survive the acquisition of my company by another
Go to Thailand with my wife

I don't do resolutions.

In the words my Itty Bitty Buddy Bill, "My New Years resolution is I'm not gonna smoke, drink, or chase women no more,...no more then I did last year."

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Resolutions....

Mine is to do a Century on the road bike without a break. Im going to do a cancer charity ride in the fall in memory of my Grandmother and Uncle who were both lost this year to the disease. I started my indoor training for the winter. If one dog year is equal to seven years, I would have to say that one trainer year equals 100 years. Time stands still when I'm on that thing!

Happy New Year to all!!

by the way, I am so sorry to hear about your friend Julee's accident on the trail today. Sounds awful the fact she had to be air-lifted. My prayers are with her for a speedy recovery.

Oh-Six

*2005 was a pretty good year for riding, so keep that going!
*Do at least two Western Spirit mountainbike tours
*Lose ten pounds
*Don't let the earlobe hair grow longer than what's on top
*Same with the nose hairs...
*Suggestion, not Resolution: no new bikes after the Spicer Ti 29er "cruiser" in January
*Suggestion Loophole: a 2006 Aprilia Tuono 1000R is a motorcycle
*Eat healthier
*Swear less
*Miss fewer opportunities to keep my mouth shut at work
*Recurring Resolution Dept: do something about the front yard

For Ought Six.

Hmmm... hadn't thought about that one for quite a while. Last resolution I made was to stop making New Year Resolutions. ;)

So my thoughts for next year include:

In no particular order.

Trying to get back down to 185 pounds.
Getting my bike under 25 pounds. Almost there! A call to Larry will fix this soon. (Yeah X-Mas bonus! :) )
Work with the kids to get them to ride without training wheels.
Open a local park for riding and start building trail at same.
Get out to ride more this year. (I did pretty well until September this year.)
To go with the above - Don't break any bones this year.
To ride new trails this year, and ride some favorites.
(Ft Custer, Brown Co, Winona Lake, and lots more).
To try to get to Whistler in June.

Beyond that... who knows.
