Last year a bunch of folks posted up their New Year's days' rides. Made for a fun thread - any takers this year?

Here's mine 1/1/08 - CO F/R: Green Mountain.

I took Hambone's white RFX up to Ellijay, GA for a big New Years group ride that Cartecay Bikes puts on. I was the only one on a 30+ lbs bike...much less one that is set up 1x9.

From Devil's Canyon/Johnson/Chumash

We were stupid to go out today, but who can resist? It was windy...lots of gusty misery.

I forgot the camera, but I did get out and enjoy the 75 degree weather riding at the site of the Santa Ynez Valley NMBS race (formerly known as the Firestone Classic). Got a lap and half on the XC course trying to get my legs back after being off the bike for a few weeks.

New Year's Day Ride in SoCal, found an alternative route down the usual run. It had a series of fun drop-ins like this:

Got a nice (cold) solo ride in New Years day, was actually pretty nice out at 35 degrees ; ) The ride is the east side of Bend at Horse Ridge, pretty much the only place to ride in winter, as the main trails in Bend are all snowed in. The first pic is after about 2.5 miles of singletrack then it dumps you on this old road, which is now abandoned, 3 miles of this then back on sweet singltetrack for the next 6-10 miles, depending on the route!

Cheers, & Happy New Year all!

No photos, but did the obligatory bike path ride with the family down Silver Strand on Coronado Island. A bit chilly at around 69 degrees. Funniest thing was all the "serious" roadies doing time trial rides on this bike path with little kids and grannies riding around on beach cruisers. Gimme a break.

Nice Bortis. Nice.

I missed out on some huge snow this weekend.

6 weeks to go......been biding my time by compulsively tuning my boards. I think each pair of my skis now has 32 coats of wax & edges sharper than an exacto blade.

The last few weeks definitely have not sucked.

Heal up, I'm sure there will still be plenty of snow around for you.

New years day ride started with the wife heckling my full spandex look with the leg warmers. She even took pictures as she laughed. Guess it is time to up the anti and put out a resolution to look better in the stuff since most of the thermal wear is tights. After the heckling was a 45min sprint at the Land Trust here in Huntsville. Got out on Toll Gate, High, and Bluff Line trails. Good run. The leaves are starting to mulch out, so traction is returning to the trails :D

Common honey all the guys are wearing it...
