My wife & I did the New Years Ride at Carvin's Cove a couple of years ago and reallly enjoyed it. I couldn't find anything about this years ride. The website that mentions it is dated 2002. Is is still going on?

Contact one of the guys at East Coasters. http://www.eastcoasters.com/

They'll know if anyone will.
I emailed Wes at the Roanoke store but haven't heard back from him. I think we'll be out there anyway if the weather is good. Just a neat thing to do on new years.

I doubt Wes has much time for anything else right now. I think the busy season for them starts in October and with high gas prices this has been a great year for all bike shops in general. Also, I don't know him personally, but I doubt he has internet access at home.

In short, it may take him a while to get back to you.

So are you planing on going all the way around? Or has the New Years ride been changed since I rode it last (2000)?

Yes, I'm sure he is very busy. I'm going to post on a couple of other area sites to see if anyone has heard anything.

We'll probably start at the lake and ride the fire road to the real trails since that is the way the new year's ride normally goes. We're taking some semi-beginners so we'll probably stick to the lower trails for most of the day. We're planning on just having a nice easy social ride to start the year. I'm hoping to be able to make a quick climb up and go down clown head to end the day.
