Ok, this has got me pissed. I just installed some hydraulic dual control XT shifters, and while riding on the street in from of my house to mess with the shifting, the rear shifter goes out. No loud noises, no warning, it just stopped making the crisp "click" noise and won't shift up or down. Dead in the water. This was brand new out of a box and I have only shifted it to tune, no dirt rides or anything....

Does anyone know how to fix these or if there is a warranty with shimano stuff? I've never had trouble with shimano before....

Remove the cable from the pinch bolt at the derailleur and pull on it with your hand to add tension. Now try shifting through the gears. If you are not getting any clicks then it's probably a simple warranty issue. Take it back to the LBS where you bought it and ask them to exchange it on the spot - Shimano will take care of them.

There isn't really anything you can do in terms of fixing the mechanism. If your bolts are all tight then those are not rebuildable - and who wants to mess with a bunch of loaded springs anyway? :)

Good luck

i wish it was as simple as a loose cable. I called the place i got them from and they will warranty it. True- I've never been able to re-build shifters easily.

Thanks for the advice
