Hi,
I m on the market for a good wheelset light and fast for xc racing and my local trails.
I m thinking to get the crest wheelset since I m a light rider (135 lb), but the new wtb Strykers look intresting but the price is little stip ( $1000) for the wheelset.
Why are they so expensive compare to the crest or the 355.
Does anybody have them and how they perform?

I don't know why they are expensive but I have a set and I am more than happy with them. Much stiffer than the XT hub 355/crest wheelset combo that I had been running. I am running them with Bronsons on and I find them very confidence inspiring. I had been running Aspens which performed much more like a race tyre. Can't wait till we get some Nano's over here in New Zealand for me to race on this summer.

The profit margins are very large because wheel companies bank on people paying extra for the looks of them.

The weight of the wheels won't matter....
the lightness of your bank account after buying them will.
At a hard Grand.....those better be magic wheels.
They should a least include a ride on a Unicorn

Like most other prebuilt wheelsets the price starts high but pretty soon you can find them for way cheaper. The XT M75s were supposed to be what, 800 dollars MSRP? You can now regularly find them for under 400 dollars shipped. Crossmaxes are similarly priced from the UK.

As far as the Shimano wheels go, I believe the closeout pricing has been because because they sold quite poorly and have since been discontinued.
