Received my Ventana El Commandante frame today and built her up tonight.
Thought I would post some pics for your enjoyment and comment.
Pics were taken prior to chain installation and shortening of brake hoses.
Chain has since been installed but I have not taken updated pics yet.
Pic's do not do the paint job justice. I will get some pics taken in the sunlight tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Welcome. Your bike looks very cool. You are correct that the radiance of Ventana colors, and I have that Cosmic Orange, just don't jump out in a picture.

Let me know what your perception of the vertical comliance is, i.e. stiff, medium, forgiving, etc. Have fun with it.

having previously ridden VentanaOZ pink El Commandante and previously having owned a Surly 1x1 I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by the ride quality of the El Comm. I felt none of the jarring that you come to expect from an aluminium frame.

That said it felt nice and solid through the twisty stuff and I believe it is the most balanced bike I have ever ridden. I jumped straight onto VentanaOZ bike after doing a lap at a local 6 hour on my Superlight and was blown away with how well it handled.

I have the same frame on its way as we speak, still trying to decide on a wheelset though, and i am going to try sherwoods rigid fork as well! It should be interesting, i have been riding fs bikes for the last 5 years, but am hooked on the hardtail 29er!!! keep us updated on the ride reports please.....bog

I like the build and color. Way to go. I'll bet that'll be fun to ride.

Maybe the picture of the chainline isn't dead on, but it kind of looks like your rear cog needs to go outboard about 3mm. Maybe it's just the picture. Or maybe it's late and I'm too tired.

Or maybe you are correct.
I have not really checked it too well yet.
Just slapped it on and spun the cranks and it stayed on.
I will check it properly before I head out on the trails.
