there's never a cheap way to lose a lot of weight on the bike.

I would say tires and wheels, in that order if you're on a budget.

Wheels wheels wheels! I haven't bothered with mine because the hubs are pretty good but the US model has crap hubs so putting lighter wheels and tires will take a lot off of the rotating mass of the wheels which makes the wheels spin more easily and makes the whole bike lighter.

Those Race Face Ride cranks are boat anchors too. The shifters won't save major weight but they're well worth upgrading.

Apart from those I would leave it and upgrade the other parts along the line but the wheels are the important part.

Don't you know the mantra
Light, Strong, Cheap........... pick two.

Plus it is a dumb idea to want to upgrade a bike before you have even bought it. Be happy with what you have for at least a little while or wait until you can get what you want in the first place.

if that's the mantra i'll take cheap and light....:madman:

for five hundred bucks you could get a sweet wheelset. That's what i plan on doing. The fun thing about the x2 is you get to pick out better parts as the old ones wear out....new xt cranks and shifters improved the shifting tons too!
