I have been riding bikes since I can remember - a long time.

In college I had a trick Gary Fisher full suspension, on which I had a horrible crash and havn't ridden since (1999!) Since then I got into much safer sports - desert motorcycle racing.

Anyways, last summer my wife and I did a motorcycle trip for a month that lead us through Telluride..... I saw the latest generation of dirtbikes and my eyes got REALLY LARGE.

So today, I bought an '09 Trance off of Ebay...... here's for getting back into it!

Looking to start racing in some capacity once I get back into shape
:D

new ride

anyways..... hi

Welcome. Lots of ex-moto riders now on bikes... kinda like the movment towards rigid bikes - lower speeds but still keeping the buzz.

:D

plus I kinda miss the peace of riding in the mountains. BRRRAAAPPPP is only fun most of the time

have the same bike, things i;ve learned

be sure to set your rear shock by sag and not pound for pound air.The tires kenda nevegals are good for some people but i found them extremly slow like pulling a boat anker I changed mine out to some old irc mythos i had the differance it made was night and day the bike is much faster with less effort.Haveing said that the kendas will surely get you into shape but when you;re ready for some speed change them out Great bike for the money ENJOY:thumbsup:

Cool! I have the same bike too. All I've changed so far are the grips and pedals. If yours still has the original pedals, I'd swap those ASAP. They are very slippery.
And +1 on straightening out that seat:)

I giggled a little when you mentioned "desert motorcycle racing" as a safer sport. However, to put toe clips on that bike or any mountain bike for all that matters would make some men cry (or point and laugh).
Clip in for real (clipless) or get a sticky pedal/shoe combo. Coming from a mx background, I would recommend the latter. You never know when you'll wanna put a foot down!

Have fun on your trance, and I hope you find some real ripping singletrack nearby! Pretty soon the pretty wife will want one, too. ;)

yeah the motorcycle racing thing was certainly a joke... I was wondering if anyone would bite.
I have been thinking about the shoe thing for sure - never tried it in the old days but it bothers me that I would have to wear a special pair of shoes to ride my bicycle.

the wife and I are already talkin about getting her a bike and eventually doing some bike travel/camping!

you ever get your bike?
ohhhhhh man.... its turned into a massive fuster cluck.

I unpacked it and the bike was totally jacket up. Dents in the swingarm, impact trauma on the frame down the metal.... its totally beat down.

Im in the process of getting a partial refund or returning it. The guy is fighting it big time.

the bike is not THAT horrible, but its not worth $800. it needs some love
