Hi everyone. I just moved to Sydney from the US (Colorado). I'm looking to make friends with some people into FR, DH or epic technical XC trails. I understand that a lot of trails around here are "secret" or locals only, so I want to make friends with people who know the area. Willing to put in time helping out with tracks as well.

My bike arrives from the US in a few weeks, just doing some homework until then, so I can ride right away when it gets here.

For the winter, my riding is limited mainly to the weekends, but in the summer, afternoons and evenings are in as well. I live in Curl Curl, work in North Sydnney. I have a Jeep and willing to drive just about anywhere.

My ride is a brand new Turner Highline (built it ust before I left the US, never even rode it yet). I ride most stuff but not some of the bigger stunts. I've been more of an XC rider until the last few years, but I caught the FR/DH/drop/jumps bug and love it. I've ridden all over North Am including Moab, Fruita, all the resorts in colorado, downieville CA, Whistler, etc.

I'm in my 30's so if you're 16, we probably wont get along. But, I've got good riding friends from 20-50 years old. I'm up for trying to hang with anyone.

Welcome to the land of Oz,
There's plenty of good riding around Sydney, the hills tend to be a little small though in this Country compared to what you'd be used to.
I work in Sydney but live 50 minutes drive south, near Wollongong. There is an escarpment here running parallel to the coast, it's only 300m high but it has a few very good tracks in the southern parts. These are pretty hard to find if you don't know where to begin. We like to keep it quiet, too. You can see some footage of the tracks on youtube- search for Illawarra Escapment Freeride (pretty lame cos it's me, sorry).
I'd be happy to show you around some time, if it interests you. I ride all the time and live just near the hills and the adjacent beaches. You'll just have to turn a blind eye to my bad habits, and let me perve on your Highline. I recently bought the La Bruja, but it was very hard to choose between her and the Highline... damn hard...

I recommend going on www.nobmob.com and meeting up for a few of the group rides. They also have good directions to most of the tracks are easy to follow trail maps.

For trails, manly dam is extremely popular. Oxford falls and red hill are decent. If your motivated, you can do all 3 in a day. Around 100km and 6 hours or so it took me.

You should check out some great single tracks and more down the blue mountains. The national park is a great place ( I live literally one minute on bike away from the entrance :) ). You may wan t to check out some websites like www.nobmob.com like others have suggested, to find some riding buddies! Around Sydney there is an abundance of trails, so do your research and by the time you get your bike you'll be well on your way.

Cheers
