I just bought a used GT Timberline. I believe i need a new crankset. Im new to Mountain Biking and am a little lost when it comes to components. The bolt that holds the left crank arm on keeps backing out. Any suggestions. I have tried lock tighting the bolt in and it didnt work. Will all cranksets work and what do i need to look out for while shopping around for them?

Hmm.. loctite didn't work?
I don't know what to say, there might be some bigger issues if loctite isn't working.
I suggest bringing your bike to your LBS and it might end up being a smaller fix (than buying a new crank anyways) and if not, they will point you in the right direction as far as what kind of cranks you should be looking for.
Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it might be damaged. The LBS should be able to tell you for sure, but I would think it's time for a new crank.

Just took the bike to the LBS. Found out that the crank was the least of my worries. Apparently my front shock was off of a walmart bike without the stickers and it was basically blown out i guess. In order to replace the fork, i had to replace the stem, headset and handlebars. This is on top of the beat up crankset. Its definately become a money pit and i havent had the chance to put it on a trail yet.
