I just picked up a 2004 Scalpel with XTR M965 disc brakes. The guy I bought it from had the brake unhooked so he could put it on a rack with a lefty adaptor. At sometime the front brake lever was pressed when the brake caliper was not on the rotor. I was able to get the caliper on to the rotor, but now the pads are rub pretty bad. I have a pair of Avid Mech. on my other bike and know how to increase the spacing of the pads, but the XTR's self adjusting, and I don't see any obvious way of increasing the space. This is my 1st pair of hydraulics so it is probably a simple fix and I just don't know about it.

So to make it simple, can anyone tell me how to get rid of the brake rubbing?\

Thanks

As mentioned, push the pistons all the way back into the bores, then recenter the caliper. If this doesn't work, you may need to let a few drops of fluid out of the system.
