How's it going Im an XC guy that rides single track, But im looking into buying myself a DJ bike. I wan to use it for Urban, and pump tracks Ive been looking at the Blk mrkt Riot, Three57, and Haro steel reserve 1.3 each have something I like. The riot the Fork and 20mm thru axle hydro brakes, Three57 mostly the color and price the rest is pretty similar minus the fork and axle, and the Hrao 20mm thru axle and lock on grips and overall image my budget is 1500 out of the three bikes i listed which would be the best? if i spend 1,000 ill have 500 for upgraded parts. If you have any other recomendations let me know please. I was also thinking of a self build but im afraid i dont know enough about DJ or bikes to do so

for 1500 you could build one helluva DJ build. browse the DJ forums and look at what parts are popular, and go from there. Black Market Frame, Argyle fork, outlaw wheels, one Juicy 7 brake for the rear, Diety Vendetta cranks, Diety Decoy pedals, spank cockpit, would be one helluva DJ bike and you could prolly come in under 1500 pretty easy.
the Blackmarket for sure. it's just a cooler bike, better designed, and if you end up selling it, way better re-sale value than a Haro. comes with a way better fork than the Haro too. Marzocchi DJ3 much better choice than RST Space.

The Haro actually comes with a Marzocchi DJ 2. ;)

Personally I'm planning on the Black Market Riot, for a complete it really seams to be the best bike for the money.
Atom lab Trail king is a great bike for that kind on money. That's what I did.

for 1500 you have a lot of flexibility!

I just ordered a custom dj frame from www.simplebicycleco.com and a new fox fork. Between my frame and fork I've already spent a grand.

But If I didn't know what I wanted or was new to the game I can find all sorts of used completes on the classifieds like ridemonkey.com pinkbike or mtbr. Another great place is craigslist. Depending on where your at you can find all sorts of bikes at all kinds of price ranges.

You could spend 600 on a used complete and save the other 900 to replace parts as you wear out/break/ get sick of things.
If you like Blk Mkt, seems like you could build a Mob for $1500. I would get top frame, fork, transmission, and headset - you could skimp on wheelsets and other parts for now, and go high dollar on those later.
i would save for the dobbermann pincher if you are going to ride street. those thing are amazing black market is alittle over rated.... if you don't like the dobberman try and go for transition trail or park, ns suburban, 09 specialized p3, or kona shonky. take a look at this:

how can you resist????
