NEW Skatepark on Venice Beach?

I hope everybody is well aware of the new skatepark the city of Los Angeles is putting in on Venice Beach? It's a 17,000 square foot Park opening up in the Fall. The Park is already far into the construction and has many Cement Bowls, Ledges, Ramps, Fun Boxes, Rails, Etc. Does Anybody know if Bikes are going to be allowed into the park once it opens up in the Beg. of Winter? I have been waiting for a new skatepark in LA for 20 years now and this is going to be the sickest park in the state. I think we need to get the word out to the local community, that bikers use this kind of park just as much as skateboarders and It would be the biggest shame to see a NO BIKES ALLOWED SIGN:( These parks keep kids busy who would otherwise be doing drugs or other bad things on the street if they wern't doing their passion of Riding and skating. And with all the places kids get kicked out of trying to just have a little fun will no longer need to happen if we just allow Bikers and Skaters Alike to ENJOY the new skatepark together, like one big happy faimly? Please let me know if anybody knows where we can send letters from the community asking for an all around multi-use Park that everyone can enjoy, not just the skaters? Thanks everyone for your support and please feel free to contact me if you want to help out with getting the word out about the new park and letting people know why we need bikes allowed inside the park just as much as skateboards? Please do your part for the community and just speak your mind!!!! Thanks Everyone!!!!

I have not been waiting, but even I'm aware of Santa Monica's "The Cove" skate park which opened about 5 years ago. They even have hours where bikes are allowed.

There are at least a half dozen city and private skate parks in the LA area that have opened in the last 10 years. (Glendale, Simi, Orange, Upland...)
Well, this isn't really an MTB-issue, anyway, but let's be clear: the "No Bikes" restriction isn't aimed at mountainbikers, but at BMX/Street riders that have three problems in skate parks:

1) Their movements are somewhat incompatible with the flow of skaters,
2) They typically use metal grind pegs that trash concrete coping in pools, and
3) They are detested by skaters who are used to crying "victim" or "rebel" but are quick to be The Man to anyone not just like them.

Either way, I say Hurrah to the new skate park and I have no problem at all with the anti-bike restrictions in a SKATE PARK. Notably, skateboards aren't permitted on BMX tracks or MTB parks, either.

+1.
