My LBS told me Spring 2023 for a new Scott Spark RC. Holy moly that's a long time. I turn 50 this December (2022) so I thought I'd buy myself a new racing rig. I know inventory is scarce, but damn. That's 14-month wait. I've been riding Epics since they came out in 2003. Thought I'd try something different for the big 5-0. My current Epic is a 2017 model that's been upgraded with carbon wheels, Eagle AXS, etc. Finding a new Epic is easier than finding that Spark. Two shops in my state have some in stock, just a bit of a drive. It's just not as fun getting same bike. My 2017 is the old brain design and horse-link design, but other than that, I don't think much has changed. Also not a big fan of the brain fork.

Anybody else in the market for a new bike? I guess it could be worse, I could be looking for a new car. LOL.

You should consider an Epic Evo- I also have been riding Epic's for about 6 years, and just purchased, a 2022 Epic Evo, and could not be happier- super light, no brain front or rear (fox fork and shock) and rides like a magic carpet ride compared to the Epics with the brain.
FYI, I tried a 2020 Scott Spark RC, and after having it in the shop 3 times for an annoying squeaking, got rid of it. Loved the ride, hated the squeaking.

For accuracy, it's "Horst Link" (named after the engineer that designed it-Horst Leitner).

My 2020 Spark RC just bit the dust after my car was rear ended, and finding a new bike has been a nightmare. I am looking at both OIZ and the '22 Spark, and can't find neither. Not sold on the Epic with the brain - I want the sweet spot between efficiency and harshness, and have a feeling the regular Epic is going to beat me up, while the Epic Evo won't be as efficient as the OIZ or the spark.

They are already out there. The shops get a list from Scott of what is coming in and can check it daily. They can see the current expected delivery date of each bike currently coming there way. They also receive new lists of bikes coming there way monthly.

I had a deposit on an RC Comp that last I checked was due in on the 7th so 4 days from now. It could be delayed a few days even a week or two due to the ship situation at the ports. But none the less it will be in long before 2023.

You need to push them to look at their lists frequently and see if you can claim one before someone else does. I had to push them to look in their system when I put the deposit down on the RC Comp. The first sales guy was like well yeah they are all claimed already and I need to go to lunch. I almost left but instead, talked to another guy who then looked hard and found the RC Comp on their list and unclaimed. I claimed it right then and there.

I had my hands on an RC Team AXS model back in October (the same day I put the deposit down) but I passed because at the time I wanted to only spend 4k. I ended up going back to the shop in November and bought a Spark 910 that was in stock instead. I have been enjoying it since.

The Oiz is a damm nice bike. But retirement comes with a significant thinning of the herd.

I recently ordered a Trek Top Fuel 9.7 in size large from my LBS. I got lucky in that they had a matte carbon black finish one with an ETA in late March / early April this year. If I wanted the bike in a different color the ETA was October / November 2022. Other dealers could not even provide me with an ETA and told me the earliest would be 2023. One shop even gave an estimate of October 2023! If you find a shop that has your bike, put down a deposit ASAP.

I was lucky in one regard, in that the shop had Top Fuel 8 in size M/L and L and I was able to test ride both sizes and pick the correct size for me, which was a large. The large fit better than the M/L even though the M/L was the recommended size according to Trek's size chart. Just FYI I am 70.5" in height with a 32" inseam and long arms for my height.

I was first in line at the LBS for a 2022 RC back in the fall of 2021. Gave up, got a 2022 Super caliber, it just shipped. Bummer, as I do a lot of racing collaboration and shopping at said LBS, but I am not waiting 1.5 years for a bike, ever.

That does not match my experience. I walked into my closest Scott dealer in October and saw 2 on display and they had 3 more on their upper level sales floor. This is after selling multiple more that they received and also having sold out on the next round of Sparks slatted to arrive.

2022 model or 21? Your experience is contrary to all I have witnessed or heard of but that’s great news for your neck of the woods.
