As of last Friday. Ridden 4 times as of today.

Sweet ride, stock gear except:

Brooks saddle (tried 'em all, this is the only thing that's comfortable. I own 5)
Panaracer Smoke/Dart tires (I was saving these)
Pump/Ti bottle cage for lighting battery/computer/saddle bag w/ fix it stuff

Fast bike, turns very well on tight ST.

I rode it 3 days and added bar ends, as I missed them after 15 yrs. of having them on assorted bikes.

I'm supposed to do an annual New Years Eve roadie ride on Sat. Hope it's too cold and we trail ride instead !.

That's a nice SJ you have. Which model Brooks saddle is that?
B17. I have 5 of these on different bikes. Been riding on them since '02 after developing prostate inflammations in '00. I also have a Vision Bent that I rode for 2 yrs. before finding the B17 solved my prostate problem, which seemingly was aggrevated by soft narrow saddles. The Brooks are comfortable out of the box for me.

Interestingly enough, I've been getting my 17yr. old nephew into road riding and now mt. biking. He rode my spare road bike all summer and part of the fall on Brooks saddles. When I had him out twice this past week on my 10 yr. old ProFlex, he was using the Body Comp saddle that came on the FSR and had been swapped. He prefered the Brooks !.

Nice build.

Good to know about Brooks. Spent thousands in the last few years on I don't know how many saddles.

Just picked up a B17 Champ Ti, waiting on a new seatpost. Can't crank the front end down far enough with my zero setback Thomson... probably could have gotten a longer bolt but really liking the look of the 2006 RaceFace Deus seatpost.

So you go level or nose slightly higher with the B17? Any plans to butcher and tie?

I finally figured out that for $70, I could get a saddle that just might allow me to ride a regular bike again. The Bent was OK and a lot of fun, but I couldn't do roadie rides with the buddies, could not climb worth ****, never felt totally at home with the balance, not to mention, could not mt. bike. $70 was a small price to pay to ride a standard bike again.

I had a B17 with a setback Thompson, worked fine in terms of tilt.

Rear is level with nose, so bit of sag in middle. I pay very CLOSE attention to tilt.

Maybe. I had some rub and chafing on the inside of the thighs this past summer. May cut away the B17 and tie back. Or may try a Team Pro.

Seems a sacrilage to stick a 500+ gram saddle on my Titanium Lemond road bike and now my Stumpy, but hey !, I can ride all day in comfort.

I'm in the same boat looking for a comfy saddle. I think it's time to try a Brooks B17 on my SJ, I'm not too worried about bike weight either.

On a ~24 lb Hammerhead 100X... so I think a slightly heavy saddle won't be an issue :D

Though the B17 Ti comes in pretty light (relatively speaking). Laser V Progel weighs ~350g... B17 Ti 410g... not too bad.

Love the bike! I have one just like it, except hydraulic discs and an ithys grove titec saddle. It is my first lightweight FS and five months later I still dream about riding it. Handlebars might be a bit too wide, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing.
