Have been waiting months and months for this baby to arrive from the States! Got it built up today as a full kit. X9 shifters and RD. Marta brakes. Crank Bros wheels. FSA crankset. I replaced the stock risers with flatbars to help get it a bit lower for my 24hr XC race this weekend.

Get to take it out for a quick shakedown in the morning.. think Im getting much sleep tonight? :madman:

Man, the black looks nice

What's the bottom bracket height on that puppy?

Looks nice, but I really don't like the look of flat bars. Even if I understand the substance over form concept, I just don't like the look. Otherwise, looks stellar.

Well the bike got a quick 30km shakedown this morning. Other than being a little plush (mind you, Ive been training on a rigid ss for the past 4 months) it feels amazing. Its so smooth and predictable. I was smashing through technical sections Id normally crawl through. I need to stiffen up both ends for my liking, although the 24hr course is a rough one - so I might just leave it up to the lockout for now. I also kept bashing my pedals on nearly everything too. Potentially another side effect of the rear being a little too soft at the moment.

But riding wise, holy **** this thing feels fast. Ive thrown it into corners Id normally putt through, thrown it off dropoffs Id baulk at, and it climbs really well.

I prefer a more XC position (sitting too upright gives me a sore back) and the position is still a little high for me with the stem flipped and sitting on the headset cover. I might consider getting some 80mm forks to help drop it a little for racing.

Our trails arent as "all mountain" or "downhill" as the US/Canuckistan trails. Much more like "rough XC trails" really - although we do have our areas where it gets gnarly.

dang, just got home with my new rockstar al frame with the build 1 package and I was all ready to post up on here and now this guy steals my thunder with a ti bike. Haven't rode it yet but it feels way fast on the pavement compared to my hei hei 2-9, i think alot of it is my wheelset, which is stans arch/ 2.2 captain controls compared to the sun/ kenda nevegals i have on the kona. I have read to many bad reviews on the cobalt wheelset freehub. So if anybody is interested in a brand new set of CB cobalt wheelset let me know. I'm not down with the mountain kings either, not enough treads for the soft, wet conditions around WV for me

In case anybody is wondering about weight, large frame w/shock is 6lbs 12 oz, complete build package 1 is 30lbs even with some cheapie flats my buddy stuck on to ride around the parking lot

Oh and the bottom bracket is very low compared to my hei hei, feels just as low as my buddy's 09 stumpy 29

That's the best looking Rockstar I've seen yet. Were you able to set up the Cobalt wheels tubeless?
Cheers. Yeah. The continentals took a bit to hold air, but got it going finally.

Cobalt wheels have no eyelets! Weeeeiiird. But the tyre kept sitting in the middle well and made it hard to get them to pressurise and bead. I eventually got the shits and just used a Co2 canister to get it to sit the bead right, then let it out and used the track pump and bobs ya uncle.

Final straw

That does it. Selling my aluminum Rockstar and building a ti.

Ti goes with everything. And I don't have to worry about damage to stickers.

But expect some colors on it. It's one of mine, after all.

Blue, orange, or gold accents?
Hard to wait for the new SRAM 2X10. Might have to start with current XO. And pink is on closeout!

How tall are you?

Really nice bike, by the way... was thinking of a similar build with some Easton Havens.

bcramlet, what size and stem length did you go with and what's your height?
Im about 5'9". However, the bike is COMPELTELY different to my other "XC" bikes. Its very high in the front. more like an all-mountain/trail bike. I had to flip the stem, drop it to the headset cap and put flatbars on it to get me even remotely close to my usual riding position. Even then, it was a long way out for me.

Im considering putting some 80mm forks and a Cane Creek headset to compensate for the angle just to get it a little lower.
