Gentlemen (and ladies),

I'm a new rider. Always been meaning to get into MTB, finally found something to start with.

I picked up an 05 Zed 2.0 on clearance for a very good price.

I'm not going to be doing anything too hardcore with this bike; I just want some light trail riding to start. I figured if I use it enough, next year I'll upgrade to something a little more hardcore.

My questions:
I'm going to want a set of fenders for this... rear fender, no big deal; I can just find one that mounts to my seatpost. But I'm a little confused as to a front fender...

What should I be looking for? Is there a specific fender I should use for the front? Easy to mount? Durable? Is there a specific type of front fender that mounts to a front shock fork? Recommendations are very much welcome.

I plan to upgrade my seat as well; I'm not too impressed with the stock seat. I'm a big guy (6'4", 220 lbs.), so I need something comfortable.

Any hints, tips or suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks.

You can find good fenders from Topeak and THE. In both cases they have models that attach to the seatpost, to the downtube and in the steerer. I suppose you can find them in any online store. As for the saddle, I like the WTB that came stock in my bike, but that is a very personal choice. It´s better if you try different models and then pick the one that´s more comfortable to you.

Thanks for the tips. I was talking to another person I know who's pretty into this stuff, and he showed me a bunch of stuff I didn't know; for example, my bike has v brake mounts, so I can mount pretty much any fender to it.

I have a WTB saddle, so I'll ride with it for a few days and see how my butt feels! :D
