alright, so I was going over Ibex's website, and was thinking "you know, theres something missing here" Shouldent Ibex make a street/DJ/trail bike ? I think that would be so cool. what do others think ? I know they did a amazing job with the Zone, I love mine. and I am thinking of picking up an alpine, but wouldent a DJ bike be a cool thing to offer ? like use kind of a similar frame to the zone, but in a hardtail.... opinions ?

Ya you know when someone asks about that style there is no Ibex, i have noticed that for awhile. Im shure it has gone to the thinking room many times. One thing with a bike like that is it's reliability, the frames go through alot of stress & are more likley to crack or break. Versus is going through that now with the HT they had, frames couldnt handle the stress. They spent alot of time & money on the FS line & are doing very well so that slows the progress of the new HT. :)
I think it'd be cool but I don't know that it would be the best niche for them to enter. The Urban/DJ scene, atleast from the looks of these forums, seems very brand oriented and it might be a tough market to break into. I'd like to see an all-mountain type bike with a DW-Link style suspension, but I think they'd do best with a single speed Trophy/Alpine and a 29'er. I think those are areas that IBEX could really do well.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a full on DH bike in the Zone series but the same branding issues apply here as in urban/dj.
Now thats an IDEA!

I believe that SS and 9er is a market that could bring in a good size following..$$$:D

Anybody have a thought about an all SRAM drive-train?

I need to hook up with you & drill Shimano into you!!:madman::madman::madman:

Just killin time, that would be a good idea but you would probibly need a poll to get a good feel on the projected sales. The reason i havent gone to Scram has been pricing, yes they are comming down to reality. As of 2007 Shimano takes over again on the shifters but Sram has the rear derailleur cable routing down pimp style.
DJ/Urban definatly are besoming kinda a Guicci frame war at this time. They have been in the works for the last 2 1/2 - 3 years & are now starting to explode with the development for all to buy. It is a style of biking i feel will be around for a long time. :drumroll:

DH is a speciality market if your bike is to hit the podium. If you have a good rider your bike can make the podium, it does have to be made well of course. I am thinking of Orange when they hired my man Steve Peat & launched them into the limelight. The other option on the DH is people can still be fooled to belive they need all that travel although this is starting to dwindle & i wouldnt hold my breath over it. I love DH personally.

Out of my field is the Single Speed & 29'er but i feel that the market is still open & it has potential to still hit the market beffor the door closes. WTB is investing alot into 29'ers & a spoke with them about that & they feel it is worth the investment. Going to the races & getting out on course the real fans really apricate this pair & the chearing & comradery is crazy. I am talking about the real spectators on the trail not the caos in the pits

Chime in & keep this rolling, great idea todd_freeride. :cornut:
