I have a new 05 KHS AM1000 frame on the way, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this frame/bike? The bike has a 4 bar linkage with 4-6" travel and a fox coilover shock. Here is my parts spec that is coming off my 04 Jamis Komodo FX:
03 Marzocchi Z1FR 130mm travel
Cane Creek S3 headset
Weyless shorty stem
Forte carbon XC riser bar
FSA Alpha drive ISIS crank 22/32/bashring
Shimano PD-M545 pedals
Shimano 750 XT rear derailleur
SRAM Rocket gripshifters
ODI Lock-on Ruffian grips
Tektro V-brake levers
Avid BBDB cable disc brakes
Supergo Freeride wheelset with 203mm rotors
SRAM 11-32 cassette
SRAM 9spd chain
Kenda Kinetics Stick-E 2.3 tires

I have to get a new BB since my Jamis was 68mm and the KHS is 73mm. I also am getting a new Thompson seatpost, as I don't want to use my DEAN Ti post with a shim. I have SRAM X.0 front derailleur as well for it. The Jamis is still fairly light around 28lbs, and it handles quick with the 71/73 geometry. I am hoping that the KHS will hold up! I have only owned one FS bike before- a 1999 DBR X2, and I hated the whole monkey-motion so I ridden hardtails since.

Did you order it from the Bob's Bicycles website? I was thinking about getting one of those myself. Please post an update on this thread when you get it built up and a few rides under your belt.

Cheers.

Enjoy, just don't break it. If you do, have fun with KHS's customer service.:madman:

Beyond all that, they're fun bikes. I have an FR2000 and it's a blast, albeit heavy, frame (lrg) weighs @ 9lbs. Seriously though, enjoy it like I know you will.

Enjoy....

I have ridden one for 4 months now and am loving it... There is minimal bobbing on uphills (to be exepected) but it holds it own. Absolutely great on the technical stuff/downhills, and stiff rear, you'll love the 6" setting. Be sure that the coil spring rate is enough for your weight in the 6" setting though... It may be too soft (i.e. need to buy a new heavier coil). You shouldn't have a problem in 5" mode.
It will definetely be heavier than your previous bike but don't sweat it, it does well on the uphills. I came off a Giant NRS that i rode for 5 years and I like this bike more for everything, except hills (but then again I hate hills period...)
Anyways, enjoy your new bike....

My frame arrives tomorrow. I am just hoping that the steer tube on my 03 Marzocchi Z1FR will be long enough! Other than that, I need to wait for my BB and seatpost to show up so I can build it up. Thanks for the information.
