By going to a longer travel fork you are going to change the head angle. I'm not really familiar with the marlin, but I'm sure you could check with your local bike shop, or refer to the fisher site to see if it would be feasible. I can't really see it being a problem, but it will change the bike's handling characteristics.

It's a good way to crack your frame and GF will not recommend that you do that. Yes it will change the handling characteristics, but more importantly, your frame will not be able to handle the extra stress put on the headtube.

You can do it, because it is your bike after all. But, if something does happen to the frame, they will not warranty it for you.

Pick up a Tora 318 soloair on a good deal, if you want something that will perform better. Or look into getting a new bike, if what you ride needs 130-140 mm of travel.
