I am looking for suggestions of a fork to upgrate to for my 2003 P1. I was originally thinking of going with a DJIII since that is what most people with P series bikes seem to like and the price is right, but since the bike is used more as an agressive trail bike than a dirt jumper, I think I might rather have something a little lighter and better damped. So now I am thinking about a fox vanilla. I love my float on my XC bike, and think the vanilla would probably ride nice and smooth like the float, but at a claimed weight of under 4 lbs is it strong?

So here are the requirements: Under $400, approx 100 mm travel (I don't want to put a 130 mm fork on and have a chopper), Strong enough to handle aressive trail riding and up to 4 ft. drops.

Suggestions?

i got a P2 and broke my fork doing some dirt jumps.... The DJIII is a beast and extremely strong. I ride alot of Urban and Dirt jumping along with some crazy style XC. Personally I really like the stiff feel of the DJIII. Its by no means an XC fork, but hill climbing i think is much much easier with it since its alot stiffer then the stock fork that came with my bike. The forks is also better for Urban stuff cuz it seems to be more responsive being stiffer and all it makes tricks easier (for me atleast). It is heavy though, but you don't have to worry about it breaking for the most part. Some say that its a pain to ride downhillish stuff with it... i never had an amazing fork for that but i get by and it seems to do all right (it is rougher on the bumps then an XC fork). there isn't any adjustablity to the fork unless you change springs or oil. once again I don't care since it doesn't break. Basically it goes smush and doens't break so it makes me happy. ANd if you talk to Marzchooi or however you spell that you can get a "crash replacement" and pick one up for around 250.

In great shape that I will sell you for $100 just to get out of my garage...then you could go from 80-125mm...
