Hey all. Just about to pull the trigger on a new Following, and here with a size question for those who aren’t completely done with that topic :)

I ride in upstate New York, and in Maryland and North Virginia when visiting the in-laws. So, your typical mid-atlantic trails: twisty, rooty, rocky and often wet. The Following seems like a great choice for this terrain. I’ve been riding road for years, so would probably feel more at home on a tighter wheelbase and steeper HTA.

Height-wise, I’m 5’10 with a 32” inseam and weigh 150lbs. I ride a 55-56cm frame in road sizing. For most MTB brands, my height puts me between M and L, although Evil sizes M all the way up to 6’0. Given all the above I’m thinking … medium?

@pursuitofnow @AaronJobe @mtskibum16 @konaben … now you’ve more time on the bike, does Medium still seem like the right size for you?

I would go with the medium. A ton of people are over biked, and think you would be as well going with a large.

I’m the same height and inseam. You’re a medium. I bought a large when this came out and it was too big. Took a while due to supply issues, but finally got a medium and it’s perfect.

I'm also 5' 10" with a 32" inseam. The large fits me perfectly.

Well, I guess this thread just confirms what we already knew: fit is highly subjective :) I decided to go for a medium, purchased from TheProsCloset so worst case scenario can use their 30-day window to change it out.

Looking at a Following from my local shop that is closing. It is a Medium. Definately feels like a little longer stem is needed. 5'11 30" inseam

I would guess medium too. That said, it seems like not too long ago everyone would recommend a longer frame + shorter stem was a better option than shorter frame + longer stem when in between sizes. Obv. the bike's specific geo should take priority, but it's maybe something to think about.

Height-wise, I’m 5’10 with a 32” inseam and weigh 150lbs I’m thinking … medium?

Anyone here run an angleset? Im think of going up to a larger size, but the reach is a little too big by 3-5mm and i was thinking of running an angle set to change that reach a little bit.
The angleset doesn't actually affect the reach much, it's the bottom headset cup that's the "eccentric" one, so it pushes the crown forwards (rather than bringing the stem closer). Perhaps swapping to a 140mm air shaft assembly might give you what you're looking for?
You could try using this to estimate the change in reach the angleset / extra 10mm travel would effect:

In terms of the ride characteristics, I have a -1 degree angleset on and like it a lot. At all speeds, bike feels more stable, but yet still nimble (less so than stock, but I think the tradeoff was well worth it - I put on the angleset 'cos I found the bike a little too twitchy for my liking). No change to the bike's poppiness.

Ok, just picked up my Following. Read about the finish being kind rough feeling and that they frame shows dirt and grease easily. Noticed this. Has anyone found a spray on protector that will make it easier to clean! I noticed taking microfiber cloth you could feel it "grab". I know I could probably get some 1200 grit wet sand paper and or polishing compound and probably smooth it up some but really dont want to go that route!!!!!

Haven't tried a pre-emptive spray but on my Offering, using a proper bike cleaner (Muc-off) really made a difference in cleaning the paint. Now I just need to do it more LOL.

Thinking about increasing travel on the Pike to 140 or installing a -1 degree headset. The primary goal is to reduce twitchy handling at high speeds. I think 140 does this by reducing the angle and would prefer this route as getting a tad more travel would be a nice bonus. I think the longer travel would help reduce pedal strikes. True? I have tried X-Low and liked the effect on handling, but pedal strikes increased to the point I went back to Low. I think the -1 headset would also result in more pedal strikes. I see a number of people who have posted about going with -1, but what’s the difference between that route and X-Low? Looking for feedback/ recommendations from those who have tried this stuff. Thanks.
