Hey,

From what I've read a new Elka Stage 5 would arrive tuned for me & my bike ... cost $500

A used Fox DHX + PUSH tune ... approx cost $350

I can't decide which to go for. Any suggestions?

This will be my first coil shock. (I've always used Fox air shocks)

But now I have a new Nomad and want to try the plushness of a coil.

I'm 200lbs and the trails I ride are 50% AM / 50% XC ... some drops. no downhill.

thanks.

Go with the new Elka. The shock will arrive to you tuned for your bike, weight and riding style. Plus you have alot of usable adjustment on the shock so you can get it to feel just how you like.

Is there a coil shock that is considered more uphill-friendly than others?

.... more for all mountain riding / less "downhill" oriented?
Or is that what the compression and rebound adjusters are for?

Forgive me if this is a silly question.
Like I said, I'm new to the world of coil suspension.
