i would like to get a new crank/bb for my sugar. the stock bontrager has worked pretty good after i got the replacement middle chainring but i would like to lose some weight and upgrade. i was looking at the truvative stylo team at jenson.

any of the new crank/bb combos that have the outboard bearings interfere with the swingarm - so rule those out immediatly! also - ISIS sucks donkey balls - i went through a BB in one season. Shimano's octolink seems to be holding up alot better. Anything square taper is good too. As far as the bb length - get something a few mm longer than was stock and it will cut down on chainsuck.

If you go with the Truvativ crank get a RaceFace BB.I did not have much luck with my Truvativ BB. RaceFace is working out well. The Truvativ crank worked better than anything else I tried on my Sugar. Second choice would be an 03 Shimano XT crank. The Truvativ shifted better, but the Shimano BB still spins smooth in my girlfriends bike. Boy would I like to take that setup back to put on my new Kona.......Anyway, good luck with your choice.

I have a 02 Sugar2, and my friend has an 01sugar race, he has went through 3 ISIS BB's in the time that I have had the same XT Octalink BB, and being we both use time atac pedals I have rode his often enough to know that mine shifts better than his (He thinks so also). Go with the 03 Octalink they have a sale on one of the site (jenson, supergo, cambria iforget) for 99.00, through in a BB for another 30 and your set for the next couple of years :)
