count the cogs in the back. if 8 get 8 spd chain 9 then 9 spd chain. the front crank looks crazy. the big ring looks rivited and not replaceable. measure the BCD of the mid and smalls and replace with matchign parts

Wow that's an old...

school LX or XT crank set. The big ring is replaceable, this is what you'll need, http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=16038&category=678 . You'll also need to get a 64mm BCD small ring and a 104mm BCD middle ring to go with it. As for the rear, reptilezs has it right, count the number of cogs in the rear and get the cassette with appropriate number of cogs, most likely you'll need an 11-32 cassette in either 8 or 9 speed. And match the chain to the number of cogs as well.
