I recently had my beloved 2008 Giant Reign 0 stolen and decided to build up another one to replace it. Here was my old bike:

The only thing left stock on it was brakes and derailleurs. Not shown in this pic was the brand new set of cranks that only saw 3 rides before she was taken. Here is my new frame:

I got it cheap as a new frame that was built up, then stripped, but never ridden. It was spotless when I got it! First brand new bike for me since I was 16!! My parts are slowly starting to come in and this is what I have so far:

Here is a front view:

I am hoping to get it finished and on the trails by this wed. I am waiting for a bleed kit and fittings to trim my brake hoses so that will come later. What do ya all think so far?

Yes, there is only one left....could be had for about $200 less then listed! Go for it, it is a great frame to build up your dream bike. It climbs very well and of course going down is very fun as well!!

I got a silver bell this time to match the Thomson stuff! It doesn't sound as pretty as the brass one tho. And to correct barbakos, YOU ride with your brakes backwards. ;) My dirt bike has a LHRB and no foot pedal so I would kill myself if I tried to change them. Even my road bike brakes are correct! Those cranks are DaVinci's, 167.5 and they use a ti square taper BB. They weigh in at just over 700g, including rings, etc. I had them on my previous bike, just not in that ^^^^picture of it.

The Crest wheels I ordered new/custom. I am light enough for them and I like the fact they are kinda wide. I had 2.0/1.5 spokes, to keep the final weight at 1430g. I will be doing some real riding here in the next few days so I will let ya know how they compare to the Crossmax XL's that were on my other bike.

I am still trying to figure out if this front derailleur is gonna work right or not. These frames with the wiggle on the down tube are crazy to buy for! Since I only run 2 rings, I would really like to get the derailleur down, but it is nearly impossible.

Hi! I'm currently building on the same frame(could very well be a sister frame to yours if you recently bought it from bikeframes on the bay).

Do you know what bb size it is? i'm looking for a square taper bb for my middleburn rs7 cranks.

I'm rollin' on crests too, btw :)

Regards,
Isak

Isak: Call DaVinci 303-936-1241 and tell them you need one of their ti square taper BB that work with their cranks. (68 Shell) They have the best price I could find anywhere. I am using a 110 w/these 167.5 and I used a 113 with the 170's. I think the 110 will work with the 170's as well, they give you a nice low Q. And yes, they are sisters!!! You must keep me updated on your build!

Barbakos: No clutch, I run an autoclutch. Sweet for the super techy nasty trails I ride.

Edit, Isak: If you want cromo, I have a 110 that only has 3 rides on it I can sell you cheap. PM if interested.

Have you used this and know it works? On my previous bike I had a XT that had the clamp higher, but the cable mount thingy would hit the bottom link of suspension so it couldn't be dropped any further then this one! If you have one mounted, please post a pick so I may see it!!

Some brake line trimming to be done.

Main components:
  • KCNC scandium bar and seatpost
  • Superstar stem
  • Vincere carbon saddle
  • Middlerburn Cranks
  • Elixir CR, 160mm
  • X9 shifter and derailleur(1x9 config)
  • Superstar switch hubs with sapim spokes and crest rims.

Wonder who sniped the third frame?

^^^^AWESOME! It is gonna be light! I will get the final weight of mine next week when I get my ti BB in and trim my brakes. So you got yours before I got mine? Would love to see how the other one is being built up!

Need to get my hands on a decent scale. Went with a 145gr ti BB as well. Would like to see it below 22lbs, prolly not possible with practical tires and the current components.

Believe You received Yours first, even tho I ordered mine first. Well mine went across the atlantic, ending up outside of Stockholm, Sweden :)

Yeah, wonder where the third frame ended up. Hopefully she'll be built up with nice components as well :)
