Hey all,

Curious to know if anyone or everyone does pre-ride new bike prep?

I mean, remove steering, grease headset. Remove shock, grease mounts. Remove linkage, grease pivot areas.

I do it on all my new moto stuff as coming from Japan, they are usualy more times than not, dry. Plus its easier to address when the bike is clean.

Just curious.

My approach...

Stress, tension, true wheels. Check torque on everything. Flog it for a ride or two to give it a full shakedown... then start tearing stuff down as preventative maintenance with better grease etc.

I like to see how factory assembly/loctite does before I start packing things with grease.

New bike prep and just "maintenance" are pretty close in my book.
I've been building my own wheels until I just recently bought a set of Hunts, but factory wheels always seem to need a minor tune before I think they're ready. The Hunts were really good out of the box.
And I pretty much seal my frame up with grease because I know where I'm planning to ride it. :)
Check bolt tightness.
I have this brake lever feel thing... they have to be just so.
And my current ride got internal rust proofing, protective tape, and a super shine before I put it together.
Oh, and sometimes I dabble in vinyl graphics - always do that first. ;)
