New 5 spot - well pretty new, I have had it for 6 weeks. Boring garage picture. I really like the Fox AVA Propedal - it really moves through the travel. I also have a romic- great rear shock as well.

Hey JTBAZ, given that you have owned both a Burner and now a 5Spot, how does the 5Spot compare to the Burner? Does the extra inch of travel really make such a difference? Is it really so much harder to climb with the 5Spot? I only ask as I am currently having a Burner built up but am sort of considering just going with a spot. In any case, many thanks. Take care.

PS What's your take on the air shock?

Some thoughts . . .

The 5 spot is more plush and has a more solid feel than the Burner. The Romic really provides for a plush and buttery smooth ride. The 5 spot really eats up rock gardens and is great on the descents. The Burner is a little more quicker and snappier than the 5 spot. The Burner feels like it has more travel than 3.6 inches. I consider the 5 spot to be a pure trail bike; whereas the Burner I consider to be a raceable trail bike. The Burner is an amazing deal at $850.

I have been really pleased with the FOX Float AVA propedal. The romic is smoother as it moves through its travel, but the AVA feels like I have more travel. The AVA also lightens up the bike -slightly changed how the bike handled.

Overall both are great bikes. I have really been impressed with the quality of Turner bikes - impeccable craftsmanship and great customer service.

Nice Bike.....

lushmd, your other option to lighten a 5 Spot but retain ROMIC feel is a titanium spring. Hey JTBAZ, where would I get a small bike stand like the one in the shot? recently bought a 5 Spot (with titanium spring) and already have Cannondale + wifes bike on current stand, therefore need extra stand.

Sidenote:

Just when did porn morph from pictures of people doing the nasty to generic and uninteresting bike pictures?

So, JTBAZ - If memory serves, you had a Burner equipped with 4" rockers...Still got 'em? Wanna sell 'em? I'm sick of waiting around.

Pete: this comment is OK but I look forward to your professional scoring of photos as you've posted before: "Final score:
2 demerits for a bike leaning against a couch photo.
3 demerits for giving a bike a name, let alone a cutesy one like "Spotty."
6 credits for posting pictures of someone actually... ").
